MT-07 crash cage for stunt and street riding (2014-2026)
Drops are part of learning wheelies and stoppies. This MT-07 crash cage is there to protect your motorcycle: it takes the hit instead of the engine, frame and tank, so a tip-over in the car park or a missed trick ends with a scuffed slider rather than an expensive repair. It is made for the Yamaha MT-07, sold in the USA as the FZ-07, for every model year from 2014 to 2026, and it is ideal for beginners as well as experienced stunt riders.
Stunt cage, crash cage or crash bars?
Riders look for it under all three names. Whatever you call it, it is a steel frame wrapped around the engine that keeps the bike off the tarmac when it falls. Compared with a pair of frame sliders, a full stunt cage covers far more of the motorcycle, which is why it is the standard choice for anyone practising tricks.
Fitment and model year
The cage is compatible with every MT-07 from 2014 to 2026 - select the year of your bike in the options above. The 2014-2024 MT-07 and the updated 2025-2026 model use different versions of the cage, and we ship the one that matches your frame.
What you get
The crash cage comes as a complete kit, ready to bolt on:
- crash cage for both sides of the bike,
- cross connector that ties both sides together and stiffens the cage,
- replaceable CNC-machined sliders that absorb impacts when the bike hits the ground,
- bolts (class 8.8 or higher) that meet OEM torque specifications, plus nuts and spacers.
How it is made
- Seamless, thick-wall steel tube with certified strength.
- Tubes bent on CNC machines and welded by TIG/MIG to WPS welding procedures, so every cage comes out the same.
- Mounting points CNC-machined from solid steel round bar.
- The cage is designed with FEM (finite element) analysis for maximum protection of the frame, engine, tank, fairing and handlebars.
- Black powder coating applied over a prepared bare-metal surface for better corrosion resistance.
Installation
The cage mounts with the hardware in the box. Watch the MT-07 crash cage installation video before you start and follow it step by step. Once installed, check all bolts again after the first ride.
Protect the rear as well
The cage looks after the front half of the bike. For full front and rear coverage of the tail, seat and rear bodywork, add a subcage: MT-07 subcage (2014-2024) or MT-07 / FZ-07 subcage (2025+). Before you order
Will I have to trim my bodywork?
In most cases no - the cage goes around the stock plastics. Always compare your bike with the photos on this page, because a facelift year can share the frame and still have different panels, and then a bit of trimming is needed.
What about the exhaust?
The cage is designed around the standard exhaust visible in the photos. If you run aftermarket headers, expect a clash - our cages are built on bikes with factory headers.
Two up?
No problem, the cage leaves the passenger seat and pegs usable.
Warranty?
Two years. Parts that went through a crash are not covered - that is what the cage is there for.
How much does it add to the bike?
Roughly 5 kg for a small cage and 8 kg for a big one, all made of reinforced seamless tube.
What happens when the pads wear out?
You just swap them. The sliders are a wear part and one type fits every cage we make.
